Who are we?
The Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry Association (SRYA) is a charitable organisation which provides support to past and present members of the Regiment and the Squadron.
It organises 'welfare' parcels for those on operations and Christmas parcels for widows of veterans. It also arranges visits and tours to places of interest to members. Membership is open to anyone who has served in the SRY and those who are currently serving.
The Association has recently joined forces with other Nottinghamshire regiments to set up a museum at Thoresby Park to commemorate the service which these Regiments have performed over the centuries.
There is no joining fee and the Association would be delighted to hear from you if you are a veteran who wishes to get back in touch with his (or her) old comrades. All ex-members of of SRY, serving members, or ex-members of RY, or if you were or are attached to either unit, you are automatically a member by right. We will always be pleased to see you at our monthly meetings, which are now held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Army Reserve Centre, Carlton (aka The Driil Hall) by kind permission of the Squadron Leader.
The Association are also looking for people who would like to volunteer to act as guides / assistants at the new Museum at Thoresby and for anyone with an interest in military history who might be able to help with the Collection of militaria at Carlton.
